The History
The concert series was organized with a two-fold purpose, to provide
an opportunity for the community to gather and enjoy new and interesting national, regional and local entertainers who would
not otherwise appear in the area and to enhance the summer tourism attractions in Port Washington.
Freeport Music began in 2005 as a three-night summer concert series featuring live "national"
Rock, Blues, Folk, Country, Americana, Roots, Soul, Reggae and/or World music acts. The series expanded to four
Friday nights in 2009 which are equally spaced over the summer months.
The Details
The Port Washington Tourism Council and Columbia St. Mary's are presenting the 2011
Freeport Music concerts which begin at 7pm each night and run until 10pm. The concerts are held at the Bandshell
in Veteran's Memorial Park, located on the lakefront in downtown Port Washington, WI. The four Friday night concerts start
with a local or regional group opening the show at 7pm followed at 8:30pm by a national level group headlining the show under
the lights.
Freeport Music, now in it's seventh year has become a welcomed addition to Port Washington's
summer attractions. Freeport Music is planned and organized by a small group of music loving community supporters through
a unique cooperative agreement with the City of Port Washington Park & Recreation Department. The FREE series is funded
entirely through generous corporate sponsorships.
GALS (Generations Affecting Lives), an Ozaukee County based
service group dedicated to making the lives of our youth richer in arts, music and sports, will have refreshments for
sale at each of the concerts including themed food items and soft drinks and bottled water. The Port Washington
Yacht Club will be serving beer and wine at the park for the shows this year.
